HELLO! WELCOME.

Leon F. Ruiz and Rosa Chavez founded Emerald Art Gallery more than three decades ago, starting from a small garage that they transformed into an art studio despite the prevailing notion that artists struggle financially.

Leon, who had previously worked as an artist and studio manager, nurtured a strong desire to create and directly sell his own artwork to clients, avoiding the need to surrender his creations to a company. He yearned for creative autonomy and the sense of ownership over his work, finding immense joy in seeing his art proudly displayed in clients' homes. This was a dream he was unwaveringly determined to fulfill.

Recognizing the remarkable talent they possessed, Leon and Rosa collaborated to create paintings in their garage. Taking their completed pieces, they set up a pop-up gallery in a bustling corner of Los Angeles, surpassing all expectations. The sale of a single painting served as a pivotal reassurance and further fueled Leon's unwavering determination to pursue his dreams.

As newcomers to the art industry, the couple initially sold their artwork from their home and at flea markets. However, as their careers flourished, they opened their own gallery in Carmel, California, while also securing representation in galleries across Monterey, Beverly Hills, and Napa Valley. Additionally, they embarked on an extensive art show circuit, exhibiting their work in over forty states.

Owning and managing Emerald Art Gallery is the realization of a lifelong dream for Leon and Rosa. They deeply appreciate the opportunity to connect with numerous art enthusiasts and become part of the creative journeys of talented artists they encounter at these festivals. They understand that being a full-time artist is a privileged and honorable career path. While many aspire to it, the fear of failure often hinders their progress. In response to such stories, Leon and Rosa consistently encourage aspiring artists to take the risk, reminding them of their true potential and assuring them that the challenging journey is entirely worthwhile.

Currently, Leon, Rosa, and Esmeralda are actively creating their artwork in their studios located in Naples, Florida; Granger, Indiana; and soon, they will open another one in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The Naples studio operates from October to May, while the rest of the year, all three artists spend their time in the Midwest.

From a young age, Esmeralda Ruiz, their daughter and a skilled artist in her own regard, has actively participated in the family business. She takes on the responsibility of managing both artists, attends to the gallery's clients, and handles custom orders, ensuring that they can dedicate themselves to their painting. Benefiting from her family's artistic influence, Esmeralda pursued three art degrees, and now she contributes her extensive knowledge and expertise to the growth of the family enterprise. This year, she will proudly display her own artwork at art festivals along the East Coast.

When you encounter them at an art show, be sure to stop by and offer a warm greeting. They are eager to share their unique journey and exchange stories with fellow art enthusiasts, fostering meaningful connections along the way.
